--- Our Christmas Story ---

Happy New Year!!!

Its been fun around our house this past week. You have all heard the True Story of Christmas but let me give you a little glimpse into OUR story of Christmas(this year)... (this is the shortened, edited version :)

We left our house on Christmas Eve around 5am for the short (ha ha) 12 hour drive to Arizona. A little snow was falling but we did not worry because "Hey! We grew up driving in Snow - it is not a problem!" (yep that exactly what we said) Well it was not a problem until we got about an hour away from our house and the snow storm hit....and all I have to say was it was crazy!!! With the ice on the road and the snow blowing all around from the fields it took us over 7 hours to make it 140 miles!! Because the great state of Texas has no clue how to deal with Snow - there were NO snowplows out and over 100 cars off in the ditches... Thank the Lord that after 8 hours of slow driving we made it through with no slipping, no wrecks, and Absolutely no problems during the next 800 miles. Needless to say that our 12 hour trip ended up taking closer to 18 hours!

After that fun trip, we spent Christmas day with my family. If you know my family, you know that when 22 of us are in one house together - Its a crazy and exciting time!! There were lots of people, even more gifts, tons of food, and an amazing amount of laughter!! Our girls definitely were spoiled and have spent the last few days enjoying their new toys!! A few pictures of the fun...

On Saturday we headed down the Mountain to spend the day with K's Family. It was another great day full of fun. We spent the day enjoying being together and playing their new Wii. Again our girls were spoiled with new toys and clothes! Sadly we did not get a family picture while we were there but here are a few from the day...

Then bright and early Sunday morning we piled our kids back in the car and headed home. The trip home was definitely (and thankfully) uneventful. I have to say our weekend with family was totally worth the aggravation and all the hours in the car. Our Girls were amazing on the whole trip.

New Years was pretty uneventful in our house. K and I had big plans to put the kids to bed early and stay up to ring in the new year while enjoying a gift given to us by my big brother...but after we FINALLY got the kids to bed, both K and I fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie....well before 11pm. O well I guess we will try again next year :)

Next big event in our family happens in exactly 12 days....can you guess what it is?!?!
